Research Ethics Policy

The Asian Educational Therapist is committed to the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

1. Research Involving Human Participants

All research involving human participants (including children, caregivers, educators, therapists, or healthcare professionals) must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and receive prior approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or independent ethics committee.

Authors must:
●  Clearly state the name of the approving ethics committee and the approval number/reference in the manuscript.
●  Confirm that written informed consent was obtained from all participants (or their legal guardians where applicable).
●  Ensure the privacy, confidentiality, and autonomy of all participants are fully protected.

2. Research Involving Animals

All studies involving animals must adhere to relevant national and institutional guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals. Authors must obtain approval from an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent animal ethics committee and clearly state the approval details in the manuscript.

3. Research Misconduct

The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of research misconduct, including but not limited to:

●  Fabrication of data
●  Falsification of data
●  Plagiarism
●  Data manipulation or selective reporting
●  Duplicate or redundant publication
●  Improper authorship practices

Any suspected misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines and flowcharts. Appropriate actions may include correction, retraction, expression of concern, or notification of the authors’ institutions and funders.

4. General Ethical Responsibilities

●  All submitted manuscripts must be original work and not under consideration by any other journal.
● Authors must declare all potential conflicts of interest.
●  The journal reserves the right to request raw data, ethics approval documents, or consent forms at any stage of the review or publication process.
●  By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Research Ethics Policy.
